The 7th year also means the beginning of the competition of feature sci-fi films at the Future Gate festival. Six films of various genres will compete for the Best Film Award: Color Out of Space, H0us3, Little Joe, Last Sunrise, Synchronic and Vivarium. The winner of the Best Film Award will be chosen by a three-member international jury. Viewers will vote for the Audience Award winner. Awards are thematically produced by the Prusa Research 3D printing company.

 

CHIPS HARDY

Paradox, dysfunction and the quest for redemption are ever-present themes in screenwriter, playwright and novelist Chips Hardy’s work. Culminating in the hit BBC1 and FX drama series “Taboo”, which he cocreated,
wrote and produced with son, Tom Hardy. Taboo won him the Writers Guild of Great Britain award for best long form drama, amongst other prizes. He’s currently adapting Čapek’s dystopian masterpiece ‘War with the Newts’ for the screen.

ANDREA SLOVÁKOVÁ 

documentarist, pedagogue
She earned her doctorates from the Film Studies at the Faculty of Arts and from the Media Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University, studied documentary film at FAMU and strategic
management at Cambridge Business School. He teaches the theory and history of documentary and experimental film at Czech universities. She worked in the management of the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival and still works here as a dramaturgist. Since May 2020 she will work as Dean of FAMU.

BENJAMIN SLAVÍK 

aesthetician, film theorist
A graduate of film studies at Charles University, Prague. He is currently studying aesthetics at the same faculty. In his research work he focuses on the overlaps and relations between contemporary philosophy, literature, fine arts and film. He specializes in the French language
area. In the past, he published texts about film in the Živel magazine. Currently he contributes to Film a doba, A2 or Denník N.
