Imagine a world in which you don’t have to fear an early violent death because you will always be brought back to life thanks to a consciousness backup – as you have a constitutional right to do so. The much-discussed Czech sci-fi Restore Point offers more than just impressive visuals. Obviously inspired by classics from Blade Runner to Minority Report, director Robert Hloz has made a quality crime thriller with a smart protagonist and an entertaining plot. But he’s not afraid to tackle current moral issues that we as a society should be addressing – proving that the domestic genre scene still has a chance to rise from the ashes.
