Sequel to a Japanese masterpiece<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With his previous hit Junk Head<\/em>, he captivated film festivals. Now director Takahide Hori returns with the new Junk World<\/a><\/strong> and sends us on a new journey through his twisted stop-motion world. The film’s main character, a tiny robot Robin, embarks on a long and arduous journey full of pitfalls and encounters with the obscure inhabitants of this inhospitable wasteland. All this is framed by a unique animation that stands out for its technical precision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Australian comedy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday Island<\/a><\/strong> proves that even the traditional concept of a time loop still has something to offer. All it takes is one phone call to find yourself in a perplexingly unenviable situation. This is exactly the fate that befalls Amos and Gemma, the main characters of the dark sci-fi comedy Yesterday Island. Together, they must escape a time loop they have caused themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Star Trek celebrates its anniversary<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The festival will mark the 60th anniversary of the original series. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan<\/a><\/strong>, directed by Nicholas Meyer, is one of the best things this beloved saga has offered its fans in decades. With the help of the Enterprise crew, Admiral Kirk must stop his old enemy, Khan Noonien Singh, from using the Genesis device capable of creating life as the ultimate weapon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best animated film of 2025?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arco<\/a><\/strong> is a charming, visually stunning and moving odyssey of hope and optimism, produced by Natalie Portman. Ugo Bienvenu’s film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and won the Grand Prize for Best Feature Film at the Annecy Animated Film Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Preview of Miroslav Krobot’s new film<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Report for Minerva 2<\/a><\/strong> is an experimental film by Miroslav Krobot and Lubom\u00edr Sm\u00e9kal loosely following on from the production of the same name by the Theatre Society 23. A quirky comedy with sharp humor set in a shabby hotel. A lonely clarinetist, a young man looking for a romantic adventure, a dissatisfied married couple, quirky hotel staff and an alien sent from the planet Minerva 2 to report on the state of the Earth all meet here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A radical view of the origin of life<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It may sound crazy, but life on Earth could have originated from hardy space-faring microbes that arrived from Mars or even further afield in our solar system. And if we accept that life can travel such vast distances, how extensive might its true family tree be? The documentary Panspermia<\/strong> <\/a>by our favorite filmmaker John D. Boswell will once again be complemented by interviews with scientists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
