Video is no longer proof. Appofeniacs throws you into a world where deepfakes kill faster than a knife. A series of interconnected stories set in Los Angeles spirals into chaos, all linked by Duke—a man obsessed with technology and deepfakes, which he turns into weapons against anyone who crosses him. Stylish, brutally violent, and blood-soaked, Chris Marrs Piliero’s debut feature is a chilling reflection of a world where the line between reality and fiction is dangerously blurred, and a viral video can destroy a life in seconds.

Appofeniacs

The Kingdom of Abraxeon is under siege by the Dreadites, heralds of the long-dead sorcerer Nekromemnon. When Deathstalker recovers a cursed amulet from a corpse-strewn battlefield, he’s marked by dark magick and hunted by monstrous assassins. To survive, he must break the curse and face the rising evil. Death is just the beginning… of great adventure!

Deathstalker

In the digitally restored expressionist gem Destiny (Der müde Tod, 1921), Fritz Lang tells a poetic parable of a young woman who refuses to come to terms with the loss of her beloved and embarks on a symbolic journey through three stories of love stronger than death. The film, also understood as a reflection of postwar trauma, captivates with its original visual language and atmosphere, enhanced by period tinting techniques that have been carefully restored as part of an extensive digital restoration.

Destiny

Frankelda, a determined 19th-century Mexican writer, journeys into her subconscious to face the monsters she’s written about. Guided by a tormented prince, she must restore the balance between fiction and reality before it’s too late. Soy Frankelda is the first Mexican stop-motion feature film, earning critical acclaim and screening at numerous prestigious international festivals.

Jozef van Wissem

Bio Oko | Destiny 24. 1. 18:45

is an avant-garde composer and baroque lutenist, known for his innovative approach to music. He performs all over the world with his characteristic black baroque lute and creates hypnotic, minimalist and darkly meditative music. His lyrics have a mythic-Christian touch and often work with motifs of love, faith and the afterlife. He collaborated with Jim Jarmusch, among others, on the award-winning soundtrack for the film Only Lovers Left Alive (Cannes Soundtrack Award 2013), for which van Wissem won the Best Soundtrack Award at the Cannes Film Festival. Van Wissem has composed music for a number of films including The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920), Nosferatu (1922), The Fall of the House of Usher (1928), Un Prince (Cannes Award 2023) and the series Irma Vep (HBO). He performs in clubs, festivals and churches and has collaborated with artists such as Tilda Swinton and Zola Jesus. His latest projects include the album The Night Dwells in the Day (2024), new film scores and an upcoming solo album and world tour in 2026. On Saturday, January 24, Jozef van Wissem will perform the legendary film by Fritz Lang, Destiny. In his interpretation, van Wissem draws on the regional folk music of the places depicted in the individual parts of the film, which he simultaneously updates with modern musical themes. In this way, he underlines the key theme of the entire film: love is stronger than death.
